1st – 30th November 2021

ArtCan Virtual Gallery

This exhibition is designed to bring together an aesthetically beautiful collection of floral and botanical artworks, not only in antithesis to such difficult circumstances worldwide over the last year and a half, but as a celebration of the flora which have given us so much strength during these times.

Curated by Kate Enters and Catherine Sweet

My piece ‘summer drive’ is a nostalgic reverie, taking me back to childhood English summer holidays, driving through verdant countryside and that emotion I felt when we travelled through a tree tunnel, a road entirely enclosed by trees with dappled sun shining through the leaves.

“I love to explore the ideas of balancing representational subjects and abstraction, to varying degrees. I like to play with depth of field, negative space, colour, marks, line, texture and painted layers to bring the viewer right back from their perceived notion of what the painting is representing (ie a recognisable landscape), to the reality of looking at gorgeous, sumptuous paint on a surface.”
